Hello Jacveld,

We do plan on providing a fix on this matter which we hope to release end of Q1 '12. However, please understand that this is the initial planning. We are able to reproduce this problem as well. Therefore, we kindly request for you to disconnect your 7140 from your external audio device in order to not reproduce this issue.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

Regards,
Samsung STB Team

For your info I am NOT using an external audio device.
Just a simple HDMI connection to my TV.
What do i have to do right now to overcome these hick-ups ??

Are you expriencing this via recorded content or from live broadcasting as well and it is only audio or video as well?

I do experience this problem only for the recordings for audio as well for video.
It is really very annoying.

Same problem here. Since the new update I get continously hick-ups in the sound of recordings.(Samsung connected to Bravia tv via HDMI). I notice that the video freezes for a microsecond also. I switched in settings the digital sound to analog, but that didn't help.

It is just as if the harddiskdrive can't keep up, so the sound and the image stutter.

Problem occurs only with recordings, not with 'live' tv viewing.

As former user I'd like to point out this has been a serious issue since the last update:

I will try to explain so Samsung can try to reproduce the issue.
It's going to be a long story:

When did it occure:
On tuesday:
timers are set for HD channels Nederland 3 HD from 19:29 to 20:25 (with the standard 2 and 10 minutes start and end 'delay', De Wereld Draait Door.
Another timer has been set for Net 5 HD from 20:30 to 21:30 (don't know the exact times there).
As time continues I decide to watch the first recording while it is being recorded, approx 20 minutes behind.
All goes well untill recording of Net 5 starts. Sound starts to hic up.
After a while and some restarting of the recording even the image starts to hic up a little.

On wensday:
timers are set for Nederland 3 HD from 19:29 to 20:25, with the standard extra recording of 2 and 10 minutes, DWDD.
Als timer programmed for 'Het Blok' on Net 5 HD, 20:30 to 21:30 (approx.) with standard extra time.

Luckily I was home early and before DWDD starts I decide to watch some Masterchef UK, I use timeshift to pause. At 19:27 DWDD starts and some time later I decide to switch to that 'recording' to avoid the problems I had on tuesday, watching a recording while the recorder is using the second tuner for another recording.
Unfortunately DWDD started to give the sound hic ups right away.
I restarted it once. Still sound hic ups.

I turned the machine off.
And watched DWDD using digitenne.

I really hope Samsung can reproduce the issue and find a fix for all C7140a users.
It's needed.

Good luck!

With kind regards
Kurt

We are also trying to reproduce the problem. Until now we can't reproduce it. Are there also Samsung SMT-C7140 users with the latest software without the problem? If so please let it know.

The audio hickups are they on all the audio tracks (stereo and Dolby) ?

When a recording is made from a SD channel there are also problems?
When a recording is made on Nederland1 (HD, unscrambled) ther are also problems?

When you use timeshift the problem is also there?

I'm not to familiar with the audio tracks, so I don't know.

I have the following connections:
HDMI to tv
tv optical to audio thingie (Onkyo 5.1 something).

As for the SD, I don't know.

I think it also happened when using timeshift on Net 5 HD on wensday.
Probably that's why I decided to switch to 1 recording (DWDD) to get rid of the problems, unfortunately it didn't work.

I think it's best for others to step in, as I'm a happy non Samsung SMT user atm :P

Good luck!

Same thing here

I just bought the 7140 and it updated while installing. We have the same problem with recordings: picture and sound irritatingly 'jump' as the processor (or whatever it is) does not seem to be able to keep up with the information load. Once the recording stops, watching becomes OK again. Please help, we boughth the 2-tuner machine exactly because we wanted to watch & record at the same time and this is now really not an option!
