Yes it works!

BTW It seems that image quality has improved??
I used the 1080p option before the update as well, but my image seems sharper and more HD than before...

Maceddy,
Glad to hear. Actually we automated the resolution feature in order for it to stay as requested.

Samsung STB Team,

successfully updated,
I still have the following problems
(the SMT C7140 is connected via the SCART plug.)

1 In the previous firmware version and the latest update the mute button is not working The icon is changing but it does not sound off. (Volume changing is ok)

2 After the update I have to manually select the TV input, into the previous firmware the SMT C7140 select automatically to the correct TV input when switcht on

Hello AVD,
Glad to hear you were able to download the new release. Sorry but point 2 is unclear. Can you please describe it in more detail - you can do it in Dutch.

Samsung STB Team

What do you mean by automated?

We recognize the output from the broadcast and resolution issue ie not always staying om the prefered resolution has been resolved.

Dear Kurt,
To quote "Steve" wasnt the best choice since as you might be aware iPhone had a rather huge issue as to the signalling reception (not to mention other bugs). So, every product has its defects.

Nevertheless, the other issues which you have mentioned are new and not recently reported. It seems that you recently purchased your box correct? Have you uploaded the current S/W?

Samsung STB Team

uhuh

Anyway,

Yes I updated the software.
I will reset the machine tonight by using the switch on the back.

Funny,

Believe the problem I just addressed was just mentioned by others in this topic as well:
Sound hicups while watching a program (not live, using time shift or record) while recording a different program.

Check the forwarding issue for yourself:
Start recording a soccer match.
Start viewing the recording.
forward the game, press play and see the time elapse for sometimes 5 seconds, try it several times for different results.
Rewinding is even worse, image is way slower, when pressing play you will be rewinded a lot more.
I agree I mentioned it a few posts earlier, some people recognized it, but it wasn't posted before.

It is a known issue that timed recordings (weekly for example) start at different time and length without any possible explanation why or when the machine does it.

I'd like to conclude that I'm possitive the way you handle your product and trying to make it better.

With kind regards
Kurt

EDIT:

Just used the switch. final thing I could do.
Just tested the forwarding and reversing issue.
Seems it's worse when HD has been recorded.
seems my problem has evolved to "FFW gives very little images (once per second max)" and starts at about the place you press play.
Rewinding still gives the issue, rewinding you several seconds more then the image showed (especially when using more speed).

I will give it a final shot tonight.
recording and viewing things.

EDIT 2
Ok. I'm done shooting.
The problems are bigger then I thought. If you use timeshift function or recording and watching that recording at the same time (but not live) it starts to hic up.
Unacceptable.
Actually I'm not only done shooting, I'm done watching.
Just watched DWDD using digitenne.

I'd advice Samsung to take the update offline asap and get the previous software up.

I advice myself to return the device :P

Good luck to all!

So the picture quality improved because the tv does the upscaling and not the decoder?
Is it a kind original resolution output?

Found one annoying thing after the update:

When you're recording a program (or 2 programs at the same time), and you're watching one of the recording programs delayed (i.e. program starts recording at 1500, but you're start to watch the program from the beginning at 1515), you'll get "hickups" in the view and sound (stuttering image/sound); this wasn't so in the previous version!

I did powerdown the device with the powerswitch button on the back of the device...

Same problem here!
Please samsung fix this ASAP!
I use this function every day, in fact, it's the reason i bought a STB with timeshifting capabilities.

Please fix!

Direct message

Hello Bijma,
Sorry that you are experiencing this. We currently havent been able to reproduce this issue. Is it always occuring when you perform such an action? Can you send us a direct message to discuss this further?

Yes, we have fixed the HDD noise situation as well.

For the audio hickup: within the previous versions audio tick is noticed during channel zapping with receiver system. HDMI1.4a has been implemented to fix and resolve the audio issue related as to connecting audio equipment via and HDMI connection such as a Bose system.

Samsung STB Team

I have send you a direct message.
At least i think and hope i did this the correct way.
Ha.

Hello Robert,

Is your STB connected to an entertainment system or receiver?

Appreciate the comment!

Samsung STB Team
It is connected by HDMI with a panasonic television and by toslink (optical) to a philips receiver. (It is an older model receiver which has no HDMI). I only use the receiver when watching movies or music shows. I experience the sound hiccups on both channels (as wel on hdmi as by toslink)
