Modem reactivation ?

My Ubee modem broke down a while ago and the Ziggo repairman replaced it with a Cisco EPC3925. Ubee was not perfect (for example the parental control URL filtering did not work) but unfortunately Cisco EPC3925 is even worse in almost all repects, including inconsistent performance both wired and wireless, the visible password, very long restart times when changing minor settings, MAC passthrough option missing, DHCP IP address reservation not working, and the list could continue. I've asked Ziggo helpdesk to get again an Ubee to no avail. In desperation I bought one via "Marktplaats" from a different province(Utrecht) than the one I live. I was expecting that once at home I could re-activate it on my subscription. But surprise: When I connected, instead of typing "Activatie" in the browser and reactivating it, the modem just worked to browse the Internet.
The only problem was that speedtest.ziggo.net was reporting 20Mbps down and 1-1.5Mbps up while my subscription is 60 down / 5 up. Also the telephone appeared to work (partially), in the sense that I can call my mobile (which rings with "Unknown Number" as Ziggo does not pass the caller-id, but when I call from my mobile my own fixed number I get an error tone.
I can only assume this is the subscription previously active on the modem which for some reason still works. And now the question:
How could I force the modem again through re-activation to my own subscription ? The Ziggo montoeur that initially replaced my broken Ubee with the Cisco said it would be no problem to re-activate a modem from Marktplaats but did not gave me technical details. But at Ziggo studio and at Ziggo helpdesk they either said is not possible or said they don't know (they also said never heard of the MAC passthrough option). Please help.
:frons:

I don't think you chose the best solution for being "in control yourself". If you're not happy with the devices Ziggo delivers a general accepted solution is to add your own router and, if that is not enough, put the ziggo device in bridge. Now you're exchanging one doubtfull device with another doubtfull device.

Thank you for your reaction, your advice is correct and this is exactly what I'm trying to do, my previous setup included an Ubee modem in semi-bridge mode and a router, all I want is to return to the setup I had before Ubee modem has suddenly bitten the dust.

I'll eventually do that if I get no other option. I don't plan to use the modem own wifi myself as it is quite limited but I would have preferred to keep WifiSpots capability. With the modem in bridge mode I get no access to WifiSpots anymore. Semi-bridge mode was ideal in every respect, but unfortunately not available on the new Cisco3925.

Semi-bridge mode was ideal in every respect, but unfortunately not available on the new Cisco3925.

And that is since this spring no longer available on the Ubee. (The settings are removed, the function is still there when you had activated it with the old firmware)

Aaah, you do not want to share, but have the benefits from others sharing

You are rushing to judgement, with the modem in semi-bridge mode and the personal wifi disabled, the "Ziggo" Wifispot was still available and working, was even used by one of my guests a few weeks ago. Interestingly, the Ubee modem I've bought from Marktplaats still has the Mac passthrough option, probably was not (yet) updated because was not in use for a while. I've put there the Mac address of my router before connecting to the cable and give it a chance to update. I figured out as long the option still works (even hidden) it's okay (and if I ever change my router (Buffalo), I can clone his Mac address to the new router.
But then I connected to my cable and found out the Ubee is activated already and cannot/don't know how reactivate it.
