Fraps op Windows Vista veroorzaakt download snelheid probleem met Fiber Power.

Sinds niet iedereen hele grote topics leest op forums dacht ik eraan om een nieuwe te openen specific over een probleem die ik gevonden heb.

Ik heb UPC Fiber Power 120, Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit met alle laatste updates.

Het programma Fraps (https://fraps.com) verminderd je download snelheid tot ~46000 kbps (op mijn computer).
Het rare ervan is, wat heeft Fraps nu met je internet verbinding te maken...

Als het programma is afgesloten heb ik weer TOP snelheid.

Heb het aantallen malen geprobeerd en elke keer hetzelfde resultaat:
Fraps draait, download snelheid omlaag tot aan de ~46000 kbps.
Fraps uit, download snelheid omhoog tot aan de top ~120000 kbps.

Fraps aan, idle, niet recording.


Fraps afgesloten.

Yes, I'm serious.

Why? I have absolutely no clue.

Recently I have upgraded my connection to 120MB Cable (EuroDocsis 3.0) and I was trying to find out why my download speed is lower than half, to be exact around ~46k kbps.

So I went trying out several things such as ethernet cable replacement, using my laptop instead of PC, hooking up PC and laptop directly to my modem instead of my router, booting into safe mode with networking.

As a result I found out that the speed is optimal on my laptop and when in safe mode with networking on my PC.
Also the network cable is perfectly fine.

So I concluded that it must be my system configuration that is somehow lowering my internet connection download speed since the speed is optimal on my laptop and on PC when in safe mode with networking.
And both my laptop and safe mode with networking on PC run very minimal of applications etc.

So I tried closing down programs one by one etc and shutting down firewalls and all that kind of stuff.
And after each change I've done a speed test on my ISP website.

Than a big change happened, I closed down Fraps and my speed went up like mad to the optimal speed.

I've done the same test multiple of times with fraps running idle and shutdown, every time it gives me the same result.
As in when I have fraps running the download speed drops and goes up when fraps isn't running at all.

So I conclude that Fraps is the issue here, lowering your download speed in a way that I can't explain.
I've already sent a contact form to BEEPA, the company behind Fraps, asking if they have a answer to this because why would a video recording program limit your connection, especially when the program isn't even actively recording but simply sitting idle in the task bar.

Ga later vandaag eens Fraps installeren op mijn laptop en kijk of het daar het probleem ook is.
