Energy use Cisco 8485DVB

All,

I have this device and it gets very hot, thus the power supply it has integrated is somewhat dated technology. Also the display does not look to me as if it is the latest technology. In England I had a plastic box with similar features that did not warm up at all.

Now my question: Does the Samsung SMT-H3102D also warm up so much? Are there any devices I can buy that waste less energy? It cannot be that people go around in their house and replace all the light bulbs with LEDs and use a receiver that is based on a cheaper design from two decades ago, can it? In the end we all want to save ice bears, do we?

It does got warm, but not really hot imho.
About the power usage: the power usage in standby appears to be quite high, this can be fixed with a firmware update that enables some kind of deep sleep. So I don't think the tech is old, it's just not being used properly.

About the LED-display: the Cisco 8485 exists in two versions: one with an alarm-clock display and one with an alfanumeric display. Ziggo has chosen for the former version, the reason for that decision is beyond me.
