So far nobody's ever done it, we all believe it's impossible, even through the setupmenu that's available via the RS232 connector...

on the first site they're all like "info like the link below doesn't stay online for long"

So it sounds pretty hot, and I've been able to get the config file out of my lancity. But I didn't feel like reading/editting the file. (you need linux to view it btw.)
(Linux rulezz btw.. Just am to lazy sometimes)

Maybe if I *really* want to, but I don't think it's worth the effort..
They'll notice it pretty quick when you overdo it, stealing services is still stealing.. for some days of superfast internet? and getting kicked offline.. ?

[QOUTE]The best way to deal with uncapping is to get it out in the open, so the vendors and MSO's can tighten up the security. This helps the majority of users, so all get fair and equal access.
[/QOUTE]

here's the link anyhow...

I would just look for some way to tweak the OS, it's legal, you can't mess up anything, and it's permanent. (getting 800/100 kbps on chello, that's acceptable) ;D

This topic is specifically about COM21's, they're not DHCP-compatible.
DHCP modems like your Comcity are also not uncappable.
The following is the problem:

-You fetch the configfile from your modem
-You edit it
-You start a server so that the modem downloads the new configfile from your computer
-You pull out the coaxcable
-You reset your modem
-Now you have an uncapped modem. But it's not connected to the coaxcable. So...
-You put the coaxcable back in
-The modem downloads the configfile from the chello
-You're right back where you started.

But as I already said, this topic is about COM21 modems, so please post in another topic if you want to talk about it.
